Tracking lung remodeling has been a challenge—until now.
We developed #SkelePlex, an #opensource tool for tracking bronchial tree growth & regeneration.

Validated on:
🐭 Mouse development
🐶 Dog lung regeneration post-surgery
🧑‍⚕️ #COPD patient cohorts

Using #SkelePlex, we show that the fractalization of the lung happens on the go during the pseudoglandular stage of lung development.

Branch morphology adapts plastically depending on tip number, illustrating how local cues drive efficient lung formation.

We're fully committed to 3Rs:
♻️ Replace – comp models & simulations go beyond what animal data alone could reveal
📉 Reduce – just 7 pregnant females (severity degree 0) & reuse of 20-year-old datasets instead of new experiments
🔬 Refine – SkelePlex & our pipeline extract max insight from min data

Skeleton Trivia for Thursday, 2026-07-30
Hiya Skeleton Crew, Ah jeez, ah jeez, I missed yesterday’s issue!!! SORRY SORRY SORRY I dunno what the heck’s goin on with this internet stuff. The cable company’s basically dug a moat all ’round the Skeleplex, no one can get in to see any movies, & still my internet’s completely not workin at all! (I’m actually stealin wifi from Cap’n Nemo Toad’s – shhh! don’t tell anyone.) & I’ve still got no idea where the heck my new armor/sword has gotten off to!! Honestly, I’d be willin to do ANYTHIN to get this whole nonsense sorted. Somethin drastic, even! At this rate … heck, I’d even be willin to sell my soul to the Devil, if he decided he wanted to come ’round & help me out! #### Answers to Last Time * It’s ****8-1-1**** ya wanna call (if yer in the U.S.) before diggin into the ground, to make sure ya don’t hit any gas lines or whatever. * “Funeral March of a Marionette” is that song they played at the beginnin of ****Alfred Hitchcock**** ’s teevee show. ## Today’s Trivias # Trivia 1 In the 1970s, Mr. Ron Popeil (of Ronco & Veg-O-Matic fame) went into business with a fella named Herman Brickman – who’d earlier on helped develop Ronco’s Bottle and Jar Cutter – to make somethin they called the Ronco Rhinestone and Stud Setter. It sold … fine? I dunno, let’s go with “fine, but not great” – though I’ll be honest with ya, that’s just me makin assumptions. Then a li’l bit later, in 1981, a company called the Brickmar Manufacturing Corp starts sellin the same sorta device, just with a snazzier brand name. The research trail on this ain’t exactly blisterin hot, but my ASSUMPTION’s that Mr. Brickman was the fella behind Brickmar Manufacturing, ’cause that just makes good sense, right? Brickmar, Brickman, it’s basically the same thing. Anyways, the question I’m tryna ask ya here is: **what’s the adjective I’d use** to describe somethin I’d decorated usin one of those Brickmar Corp gizmos? I know, I know, it’s a li’l bit of a weird way to phrase the question, but I gotta do it this way for today’s mini-theme. If ya wanna just give me the name of the Brickmar device itself, ya can do that & I’ll still give ya full credit. # Trivia 2 **What rock supergroup** featured Tommy Shaw of Styx on guitar, Jack Blades of Night Ranger on bass, Ted Nugent of … well, of bein Ted Nugent, basically, but I guess also the Amboy Dukes – but so anyway, Mr. Nugent was on guitar, too. The drummer was Michael Cartellone, who eventually joined Lynyrd Skynyrd although he wasn’t playin for ’em at the time this band was founded. * * * 💀 Submit Your Answers 💀 💀 View Season Leaderboard 💀 * * * ## OK then Byeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Who doesn’t love a triple tautology??
Skeleton Trivia for Tuesday, 2026-06-30
Hiya Skeleton Crew, Normally in these here introductions I like to tell youse guys how things are goin at the Skeleplex. But since I’m still travelin through the UK right now … I don’t actually know!! But don’tcha worry, I’ve got Gene mindin the proverbial store, plus I asked some of my pals to check in on things every now & then. I’m sure it’s all fine! Anyways, at some point I’ll fill ya in ’bout my reasons for bein overseas. But seein as I’m a li’l pressed for time right now, let’s just get on with the trivias, eh? #### Answers to Last Time * That pic I took for ya yesterday is from the famous Roman ruins at the English spa town of ****Bath****. * It’s ****Vindaloo**** that’s the spicy curry with Portuguese origins (by way of Goa) that I particularly enjoy on a hot day. ## Today’s Trivias # Trivia 1 The town of Bath is on the River Avon – or really I guess I should say _a_ River Avon, ’cause there are a whole BUNCHA Avons in the UK! The one in Bath isn’t even the most famous Avon; nah, that’d hafta be the Warwickshire Avon, a.k.a. Shakespeare’s Avon, a.k.a. the Avon that Stratford-upon-Avon’s up on. Why so many Avons, ya might be wonderin? Well, it’s ’cause _Avon_ ’s just the Anglicized version of the Welsh word _afon_ , which means “river”. So when ya say _River Avon_ , yer basically just sayin “River River” – i.e., it’s one of those tautological place names. Can ya tell me **what river of Asia** is actually TRIPLY tautological, since its name combines the words for “river” from both Thai (a language from the Kra–Dai family) plus an archaic term from the Austroasiatic languages (which includes Vietnamese)? # Trivia 2 There’s a cool li’l feature on the River Avon in Bath, right near the Pulteney Bridge, that I somehow managed to forget to take a picture of. Fortunately, I was able to find a good photo on Flickr that I’m allowed to use to show ya what I’m talkin ’bout: “Bath 27-09-2013” by Karen Roe, CC BY 2.0 (available at https://www.flickr.com/photos/karen_roe/13492696725) That pretty V-shaped cascade is caused by **what type of structure** (also sometimes called a “low-head dam”) that helps control the flow of the river? The one in the picture was built in the 1970s as a kinda engineered “Project Hail Mary” to help protect the town of Bath from bein flooded by the Avon. * * * 💀 Submit Your Answers 💀 💀 View Season Leaderboard 💀 * * * ## OK then Byeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Get ready for the Best trivia!
Skeleton Trivia for Monday, 2026-05-04
Hiya Skeleton Crew, I’m doin a _Star Wars_ marathon at the ol’ Skeleplex today, in honor of the May 4th holiday. So let’s do a li’l _Star Wars_ trivias! #### Answers to Last Time * Rachel Whiteread’s __House__ was a temporary sculpture that was a ****concrete**** cast of a three-story Victorian house. * To a computer scientist an AST’s an ****Abstract**** Syntax Tree. ## Today’s Trivias # Trivia 1 Ahmed Best’s best-known for doin the voice & motion capture for Jar Jar Binks. He first caught the eye of _Phantom Menace_ castin director Robin Gurland as a member of **what theater show** where he was performin with a kitchin sink hangin from ’round his neck? that describes itself as “a unique combination of percussion, dance and physical comedy”? It had its premiere back in ’91 at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. # Trivia 2 It’s possible ya might not recognize the name Ian McDiarmid, but I’m sure ya’d know his face or his voice if ya saw it: he’s played Emperor Palpatine ever since 1983’s _Return of the Jedi_. Like so many of these famous UK actors, Mr. McDiarmid got his start on the stage. If ya check out his Wikipedia article, that really looks to be his Main Thing – I mean, sure, he’s done plenty of stuff for screens big & small, but it’s pretty clear the theater’s where his heart’s really at. For example, one of his more recent performances was playin the title role in a Bertolt Brecht play about **what historical figure**? The play’s mostly set in Padua & in a relatively early scene we see this fella discoverin the objects that’d come to be known as Callisto, Io, Ganymede, & Europa. * * * 💀 Submit Your Answers 💀 💀 View Season Leaderboard 💀 * * * ## OK then Byeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Skeleton Trivia for Thursday, 2026-04-23
Hiya Skeleton Crew, Hopefully the website updates are workin for all youse guys! My djinn pal Gene decided to stick around & help out with the concession stand here at the Skeleplex. I guess he kinda grew attached to that ol’ ICEE machine over the past three thousand years. So I guess that’s a new addition to our li’l Skeleton Trivia fam! Ya might see him pop in from time to time. #### Answers to Last Time * It’s ****Sinbad**** who some folks apparently believe starred in a (nonexistent) ’90s genie movie called __Shazaam__. * It’s ****Sir Walter Scott**** who created the character Jeanie Deans & the __Waverley__ novels. ## Today’s Trivias # Trivia 1 **Who** won both of the actin Oscars he was nominated for, both times for his role in a movie that won Best Picture that year? He’s the only actor to have that particular distinction with a perfect record; everyone else who’s won for performances in multiple Best Picture winners also had other years where they DIDN’T win (e.g., Dustin Hoffman, Jack Nicholson). This guy’s full given name is a prophetic name that appears twice in the Book of Isaiah, but he goes by a shortened version professionally. # Trivia 2 **Who** lives in a forest in the faraway Thrice-ninth Tsardom, in a hut with chicken legs? * * * 💀 Submit Your Answers 💀 💀 View Season Leaderboard 💀 * * * ## OK then Byeeeeeeeeeeeeee
