It would take the hardest of hearts not to really warm to Bonnie Tyler, whenever you saw her interviewed on anything. She's so Swansea (alright, Skewen). Always came over as a proper good laugh and a decent human being. A world-conquering diva, but always one of us. Also, WHAT a voice. R.I.P.

Rest in Glamour Bonnie Tyler, Welsh icon, Skewen royalty. Your voice and sense of humour are legendary. You put Wales on the map for generations of people and you did us all so proud. Love you x

This Danish interviewer had clearly never interviewed anybody from Skewen before.

An absolute stone-cold schoolboy error.

I understand that there was a wildfire not that far from me, above Skewen, Neath Port Talbot last night and this morning. I hope that everyone is OK there.

I have just heard of the death of the great Bonnie Tyler. Born Gaynor Hopkins, she came from three villages away from me- Skewen. She is a very sad loss.

5. Bonnie Tyler was born in Skewen in South Wales

Cure have never played in Skewen
The closest they have played was in Swansea (1979 & 1981) and in Port Talbot 1979

Incredibly Skewen is exactly 6.3 miles on foot from both venues

Tribal because it's a lake in the Ferry that's being reserved for a Skewen based group. That's not your lake bastards! Down with Skewen!

Going on an anti-capitalist and tribal rant about a lake in Briton Ferry which has always been publicly accessible being gated off for the sole use of a fishing club in Skewen and my friends are sick of it

“Tyler grew up in a council house in Skewen with five older siblings. ‘I class myself as a working-class girl, and I’ve never stopped working,’ she told the Guardian in 2013. ‘I do an awful lot [of performances] because I feel other people would love to be offered what I’m offered.’”
“Thousands of Bonnie Tyler fans lined the streets of her home town in south Wales to pay respects to the singer as her coffin was brought back to her former home.”

“The coffin was draped in the Welsh flag and accompanied by a framed photograph of the singer.”

Watched bowls club member Harri Jones playing for Skewen Youth against Dunvant this afternoon. The result a last minute 31-29 win for Skewen with a brilliant break and try from the halfway line by the Skewen centre #grassrootsrugby
Some quality post match tunnel work from both teams too.

I notice that the BBC referred to Bonnie Tyler as being born in Swansea.
No- her hometown was Skewen, as BBC Wales have proudly said.
Be careful and check everything that BBC Central says!

"Adam, can I have your scrum cap?!"

Don't ask, don't get! Adam Beard made Beau the happiest kid in the crowd yesterday when he signed and handed over his (last ever!) matchworn Ospreys scrum cap.

Beau plays for Skewen U9s and Wales Deaf Rugby... next stop, the Ospreys?!

Ah such a shame to hear of Bonnie Tyler's passing. She was a Skewen legend and all round amazing and lovely person.

RIP Bonnie. ❤️

In Skewen, between Neath and Swansea

I have it on good authority that Ashley Hames, my partner's uncle, was responsible for the graffiti, dating from the 1969 investiture of the (obviously false) Prince of Wales

The paint is now sadly faded
