I'm using Lightroom 5.7 so I've got very limited plugin options (none, I think). I've been getting C41 scanned by the lab rather than struggle, but Filmomat Smartconvert looks interesting. Haven't done a trial yet but the interface looks really straightforward.

So, with macOS 26 dropping support for FireWire (needed for one of my film scanners), I put together a scanning workstation using an old ThinkPad T530 we had laying around.

- It runs Manjaro Linux.
- Uses VueScan to scan into a set folder, then Filmomat SmartConvert (running under Wine) to invert.

Ok so apparently if you enable Digital ROC (colour correction) you get a perfectly Normal image out of Phoenix with Nikon Scan.

First image: Scanned as positive and converted with SmartConvert
Second image: Scanned as negative in Nikon Scan 4 with Digital ROC enabled. Way more true to life colours.

I am mildly intrigued by their loyalty scheme, but I think I am going to just going to stick with being shafted by Adobe. Even piracy seems more of a faff than just keep using LR & PS. I'd go from 2 apps to needing 4 (C1, Topaz Denoise, PS, and buy Filmomat Smartconvert)
