The air quality continues to deteriorate across the Pacific Northwest. In WA and OR, 70% of all monitors and sensors are showing USG (orange) or higher. Everyone should take steps to keep their indoor air clean and limit time outside! #wawx #orwx #wasmoke #SmokeReady

Smoke from catastrophic wildfires in #Spokane and #Okanagan are creating dangerous conditions for outdoor workers.

When AQI is above 101, employers must provide respirators to workers for voluntary use! An N95 is best. Be #SmokeReady #SinlahekinFire #FairviewFire #AutumnLaneFire

There’s #smoke from #wildfires in Eastern Washington: https://www.AirNow.gov
At an AQI (Air Quality Index) of 69 for PM2.5, employers must provide training on wildfire smoke, monitor the current AQI for PM2.5 & respond to dangerous symptoms.

The final theme for #SmokeReadyWeek is Establish A Clean Room. Portable Air Cleaners and DIY box fans are great, but they can only circulate so much air. If smoke is getting into your home, designate a space to run these devices to keep the air clean!

Today's #SmokeReadyWeek theme: Optimize Your System.
My favorite tip: buy some extra MERV-13 filters and a 20" box fan so you can make a DIY box fan filter! There's a video at dnr.wa.gov/smoke that shows you how 😊

Be #SmokeReady.
Prescribed fire is one of California’s most effective tools to prevent large, destructive wildfires. These planned burns are carefully managed to reduce smoke impacts and improve forest health—but any smoke can affect air quality.
