A previously recorded video is available at https://2025.stateofthebrowser.com/speaker/sara-joy including all the links from the slides, which you can find at https://slides.sarajoy.dev/whimsica11y/sotb2025
Sara Joy | State of the Browser
Sara has been extremely online since 1998, making her own personal websites since 1999. She fell off the wagon some time around 2010, until getting back on it in 2021 to switch her career from electronic engineering to front end web development. She loves the web platform, and wants it to be accessible to everyone.

Still flying high from attending State of the Browser again this year, though I'm also struggling to remember what a keyboard does after the ensuing holiday.

Just for the laughs, here's a "candid" photo including me smiling at the camera. Sorry for ruining your shot @marcthiele.com!

Walked away from State of the Browser 23 cards lighter, nearly half of the box!

If you got one, reach out! Connect on social, email me, whatever. These cards are great at starting conversations, not so great at continuing them unless we connected, and I'd love to keep in touch.

#SotB2025
It's finally State of the Browser day!

If you see me around, be sure to ask for a one of a kind business card. I spent way too much time and money on them to go home with a box full!

Thinking about Scott Riley's #sotb2025 talk. How mindful design respects user competency, autonomy, and relatedness. Points that are all very relevant to project design in citizen science too.

Here's the web site for Scott's book and design toolkit:

If you were with me over brekas during #sotb2025 and I was trying to remember an old comedian who talked funny, turns out it was Professor Stanley Unwin, who spoke his own special "Unwinese":
