Sociologists are shocked, shocked.

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

good morning to sociologists from this historian.
I do want to shout-out my fellow sociologists, who have collectively created a discipline so woke that not a single one of our introductory textbooks can make it past Florida's censors.

Great work everyone.

Sociologists screaming into the void
kind of darkly funny that "gender studies" is the stereotypical "useless degree" because gender studies will help you understand a large and important chunk of the current psychosis in american life

I put together this starter pack of sociologists (and adjacent scholars) who study race and ethnicity.

If you would like to be added, just let me know in the replies!

Very good argument for taking sociology courses. But, what do sociologists know about social life?
There are more consumers who believe they are getting value out of ChatGPT than people who can explain what the field of sociology is.

me 20 seconds ago: oh lol a content warning for sociologists what a good joke

me now: i should have listened to the content warning for sociologists
(Trigger warning: any sociologists among us may wish to avert their eyes to avoid spontaneous combustion resulting from exposure to the worst theory of social action I have seen in decades)

For the rest of you, beware if you are “unhappy” or “looking for justice” you may be on the road to terrorism

Sociologists think they're political scientists. Political scientists think they're economists. And economists think they're Aristotle

Agree. The psychologists and sociologists who study far-right radicalization find that antisocial attitudes usually precede radicalization.
Good analysis.

There is a great deal of acceptance on the far right for antisocial tendencies that some people with those tendencies likely find compelling. They can shift from being covertly to overtly antisocial and be celebrated for doing so, as we have seen happen with Musk.

I've heard countless criticisms about how the Democratic is no longer the party of the working-class.

Sociologists call that successful propaganda, otherwise known as bullshit.
