TBH, we all have our areas of special interest. An old co-worker of mine used to get very shirty if costumes in historical dramas were out-of-period, for example.

For example, though, here's the map:
2D map of star positions in a 40 ly cube centred on Sol, with the centre of the galaxy in the +y direction, and the z-coordinate annotated on each star - generated via the program CHVIEW, pulled from the old Solstation website via the Wayback Machine and running using the otvdm 16-bit emulator, using data taken from David Nash's HYG dataset, with updates and modifications to underlying stellar characteristics by me
