and my boss before he left could not believe how calm I was about problem solving all this and I didn't have the heart to tell him that when you live your whole life in chaos and panic, apparently that results in you being ultra prepared for an actual travel emergency when it happens

At the UCL Sustainability Event, Florentix Media spoke with Dom Pace from City St George’s University about an innovative interdisciplinary approach to media.

A powerful example of co-creation, where knowledge moves beyond the classroom and media becomes a tool for environmental problem-solving!

Mathematicians birthed LLMs. You've forgotten your mommy, OpenAI.

My new piece in Wired:

Solving Math’s Greatest Problems Was an Art Form. Then Came AI
Mathematics has been one of humanity’s most creative endeavors, akin to painting and poetry. Now, mathematicians are trying to save it from the brute force of AI.

It was a combination of moving one small piece, bringing back something from the beginning, and adding one small interlude that linked it. I've always loved solving puzzles and for me, so much of writing is finding the missing piece, then twisting it around until it fits in just the right spot.

like it does not "own the AI bros" to continue dunking on this. we cringe at you, because you are demonstrating you are incurious and not understanding something that can be easily explained, has been easily explained, and which is *irrelevant* to problem-solving or anything else

It's been a while since we visited Faerûn. Hard to believe this was my first ever game streamed and we're STILL not done! The puzzle-solving aspect of Shar's temple has been really fun, but let's try and make some progress today.

It's not actually solving the issue when they're the problem but because their displacement lets them "fix" something, the fake solution allows them to avoid dealing and pretend it's not them. It doesn't help when it comes up again and agian and eventually someone clues in that they're the problem.

Now if we're finished discussing this, can we return to solving the murder?

Yet again, the most common harm of AI-image generators is nonconsensual porn (as it's been for the past ~decade). Perhaps unsurprising given the sex cult reporting, this is an obvious problem with clear demonstrated harms and tech companies have put very little effort into solving it.

My entire opinion on the subject is too long to express here but i think my main point is not that difficulty options are bad it's just that difficulty options are sometimes not even related to solving the issue of player with varying skill level, etc.

Yeah I mean, I built more than just a career on top of being "the person willing to do whatever it takes to understand the problem well enough to solve it."

And now that the world has the thinnest of options for solving problems without understanding them, they're jumping on it wholesale -

Gotta love the Lioness fans still trying to work out what's happening. What takes the cake is the fan who's going to rewatch all seasons again and only focus on the picture frame alignment to justify their theory how Joe's family left 🤣🤣🤣. Loving the commitment to problem solving
