Driving over Highway 108 at #SonoraPass, as you descend the eastern side of the #SierraNevada, you’re greeted by the stunning sight of #LeavittMeadows and the #WestWalkerRiver. This may not be the best light or photo, but the view is spectacular and well worth seeing in person. #ECK #Scape #Stunday
Leavitt Meadows and the West Walker River spread across a broad alpine valley, with a narrow, winding river cutting through open meadows of dry grass and low shrubs. Evergreen trees cluster in patches along the water and across the foreground, while steep mountain slopes rise in the background, dotted with rocks, sparse vegetation, and scattered conifers.

#SonoraPass is one of the highlights of any Sierra Nevada #advbike tour. At 2939m or 9624ft of elevation it is amongst the highest in #California, higher than any #European #pass. Beautifully twisted roads have a bit of a roller coaster feel to them.

This week, @caltrans9.bsky.social and Caltrans District 10 crews made significant progress removing snow from #SonoraPass (State Route 108). Both crews are within a few miles of the summit and above 9,000 ft. of elevation.
