I may have just set my first soundpost? In a violin
In lighter news, I took my violin to the luthier who lives in the forest and after he adjusted the soundpost by about 4mm, my instrument rings out again ♥️
I am almost crying because it feels like I got my voice back.
It still needs other adjustments but I can’t wait to play on it!!

One of the best events at Symphony Center all year! Tonight was the CSO Overture Council’s Soundpost Renaissance Remix fashion show. Tonight we raised $25,000 to support the Negaunee Music Institute which supports music education across Chicago. So proud of my friend Kimi who produced this night!

I asked him if he had any tips on the smashing of the violin at the climax of the piece. He said “do it with love”.
(When I’d broken my first violin I gave him the soundpost. In French and Italian it’s called the soul. He smiled and put it in his wallet.)
