Commuters campaigning to fix London's troubled District line were met with cruel irony on Thursday evening when the very railway they had gathered to protest about let them down again. Members of Fix The District, a volunteer passenger campaign, had assembled outside Southfields station in south-west London to demand action over the unreliable Wimbledon branch of the line. While the protest was under way, Transport for London reported a track fault at Southfields itself, causing what it described as minor delays between Earl's Court and Wimbledon.
