Folks who complain about Kubernetes being hard never had to build and maintain a mail server with postfix, clamav, spamassassin (and its 55 perl modules), dovecot, courier imap and a lamp server to run egroupware and admin interface :x

The spammy domain in question is certainly questionable. Phishing again.

This, yes. I trained SpamAssassin on my spam and known good emails in the late nineties back when I was still reading email in PINE and I would love today's versions of that but calling everything AI now means I can't tell if it's good modeling or hallucinating crap.
like, these differences are subtle--a spam filter is a language model, "tuning" and "training" are differences of emphasis rather than kind--but if google is going to obfuscate rather than educate and be transparent they deserve what they get

SpamAssassin does assign certain misspellings a higher spam score! Some of the rules descriptions are hilarious, too. This is an older release because their newer documentation is impossible to navigate, but you can get the picture: spamassassin.apache.org/old/tests_3_...

I ran my own mail server as long as I could, and then... nope. Remember when SpamAssassin was the state of the art? (Hell, for all I know it still is, somehow, somewhere. I'm no longer required to know.)

I kinda miss running my own mail server but the day I realized that I no longer had to spend any more time ever inspecting my logs, tuning SpamAssassin rules or otherwise dealing with the hell SMTP had become even by 2005? Was a _good_ day.
Turning down my DNS servers felt like a self-betrayal tho.
