2003 saw the birth of the retro-cue task. 23 years later, we adapt this logic to LTM and ask how attention shapes LTM retrieval. Check out our paper in Communications Psychology: www.nature.com/articles/s44...

Orienting selective attention within long-term contextual memories - Communications Psychology
We show that valid spatial cues directing internal attention during long-term memory retrieval boost recall, while invalid cues incur costs. Our work offers a flexible experimental framework to study ...

Early Spatial and Contextual Coding Deficits in Hippocampal CA1 Precede Performance Decline in an Alzheimer's Disease Model
Two-photon calcium imaging in behaving 5xFAD mice reveals early CA1 coding deficits before behavioral decline. Task-related place cell activity and splitter cell trajectory coding are impaired, with ....

Can we learn from things we're not paying attention to?

We used a contextual cueing paradigm to pit selective attention against spatial prediction during visual search in 2 high-powered (N=104) experiments — and found they actively compete.

Disrupted spatial and contextual memory encoding in the hippocampus of 5xFAD mice precedes cognitive impairment
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is marked by progressive cognitive decline, yet the underlying neural mechanisms are not fully understood. To address this, we investigated hippocampal activity in 5xFAD model...

A causal spatial role for apical dendrites in the cortex
Cortical pyramidal neurons project a long apical dendrite to layer 1 (L1), to receive synaptic inputs that are thought to provide contextual and possibly suppressive modulation. In visual cortex, thes...

This has evolved a bit, and the same person I made fun of pitched a plan for subscriptions on Tuesday. It took me a few days to clean it up, but I just open sourced this shit at warp nine 🤣

Anyone is welcome to contribute, or not. You do you. I admit I find it useful, but bros ain’t selling it
