#Speech-Language
My main concern over Trump's inauguration speech is he'd take the original Russian language version.

free speech, it turns out, is only about the freedom to use racist language

AI company: we trained this dog to talk. It doesn’t actually understand language, but it kinda sounds like it’s having a conversation by mimicking the sound of human speech.

CEO: awesome, I’ve fired my entire staff, how quickly can it start diagnosing medical disorders

Whether it’s liberal tweaking their language to be more gender inclusive or Elon Musk tweaking Grok to say more positive things about Adolf Hitler, both sides have a free speech problem.

when someone tells you their main issue is “free speech” you just know they know every slur in every language and is currently using 100% of their brain capacity on which ones apply to you

Trump talked about closing the Department of Education during just about every campaign speech he made. He was extremely explicit about it -- no coded language. Maybe people didn't understand what they were doing, but they voted for this.

I'm one of the few non-binary voice actors who has vocally transitioned while recording.

Here's an example of a role I worked before and during puberty: Enkidu from the FATE series.

I've also authored trans-centric speech therapy curriculum alongside trans Speech Language Pathologists.

Today, Pauline Hanson complained about people who have difficulty speaking English. Luckily, her speech provided the perfect example for anyone wanting to learn the language.

I wrote something based on @andycraig.bsky.social's oped about the new "free speech crisis" specifically calling out how the biggest attackers of free speech use the language of free speech to suppress the speech of others. www.techdirt.com/2025/01/31/t...
The Faux Free Speech Warriors Attacking Free Speech
There’s a particularly insidious and cynical form of censorship gaining prominence in America: the weaponization of “free speech” rhetoric, combined with abuses of the judicial sy…

Biggest concern I have with Trump’s inauguration speech is he accidentally takes the original Russian language text.

it's weird how deliberately misunderstanding the parts of speech that make up the nuts and bolts of language is like. a key strategy for fascists

Collar that removes your ability to process language so you can't read or understand speech, and replaces your vocalization with pet sounds.

A "polite" bigot is still dangerous. Hate speech shrouded in academic language is still hate speech. Manners without respect are hollow and insidious.

Reform UK's Zia Yusuf is currently delivering a speech accusing his party's critics of using language that will put his colleagues' lives at risk.

Has anyone noticed the language police that are sprouting like weeds all over the government and corporate America? Free speech? Not so much.

I mean, it does a certain amount of violence to the English language to call it a speech, doesn’t it?

One other thing re Rayner and ILR. Look at the clarity of language in her speech and compare it Paul Ovenden’s execrable waffle supporting Mahmood’s policy the other day.

Orwell was right, obfuscatory and flowery political language disguises poor political thinking.

My mother is a speech and language therapist, and there’s an example she uses to explain how we develop language. The cup. As a baby, you start with no language. Then you will starting using a cup around the same time that you start understanding the word ‘cup’ when it’s said to you. 2/
