SPICYPILLOW UPDATE:
Found a repair shop that was willing to just take out the defective battery for disposal. Holding onto the phone itself to either eventually get a new battery for or destroy with my own hands. Number moved to previous still working phone, and ordering a new phone now.

Good news is I never got rid of the phone I used before this one, which has a very badly cracked screen but is otherwise fine, so I just transferred the number over to that for the time being. If they can't repair the spicypillow tomorrow, then I'll just have them dispose of it and get something new

that being said? still in possession of the spicypillow, because i haven't found a place to take them yet that will wipe the data. so, i have to brave it, turn the damn thing on, and do a factory reset sitting outside with the phone in a cast iron pot if something goes reaaaaally wrong.
