Turns out the engineering tradeoffs to walk down airstairs on a runway are pretty huge, and we've gone back to capsule splashdowns.

Yeah, call me weird but this NASA kid is especially crazy about splashdowns. Always a relief to be back safe—then the celebration can start. And so dramatic!

I watched splashdowns with my mom when I was a very little girl and I thought of her as I watched this splashdown - so in memory of my mom, I offer that which said each time she saw a splashdown, that which she would have said today: WOWEE - thank you NASA and Artemis II crew.
Artemis II's 694,000-mile round trip around the moon is complete. They're back.
