Went to the protest today with my mother, who's become QUITE the radical.

It was -7° with the windchill, snowing like FUCK. Got there early, there were already around 45-60 people. By the time the speakers began, there were between 300-400 ANGRY PEOPLE chanting stuff.

My mother & me, freezing our fucking ASSES off at the second of what will doubtless be MANY MANY protests at the Traverse City, Michigan Government Building, on 17 February, 2025, Noon. We got there early, so by the time things got rolling, we were fucking FROZEN SOLID. I wouldn't have gone at all, but she SHAMED me into it, fucking Bolshevik. She's furious; for some reason she doesn't remember me telling her for the past 30 years that this was going to happen, & she is QUITE shocked about it all. I am being good & NOT saying "I told you so." I'm also cautioning her to slow down; she's lost over ten pounds since election day from stress. She's almost 81 & already fucking skinny, she cannot AFFORD to lose ten pounds. The crowd at the protest grows - as does the snow on their hoods & shoulders... You can see it weighing down the boughs on the tall fir tree in the distance, and blotting out the trees farther away. As my mother drove us there, we had to go barely 10 mph, because visibility was so bad... The sow-covered crowd & their many homemade signs spill over onto sidewalks; bare trees behind them look as if their branches are arms spread out in dismay, asking what the FUCK is happening to this country... More spillover crowd in the parking lot show off their signs: "You can't combover bigotry," "Deport Elon back to Africa or Gitmo," "We are indivisible," "Doctors Against Trump," and so on. Despite the HORRIFIC cold, everyone was pretty cheerful - I think they were thrilled to not be the only ones, to finally see that there ARE many, MANY of us out here who hate this. People forget - that asshole lost by a WHISKER, he didn't win a MANDATE. And if you include all the votes that were thrown out, & all the people who were't allowed to vote, who were thrown off the rolls... SHE WON. Remember that. A third of this country didn't vote at all. Trump does NOT HAVE A MAJORITY OF THIS COUNTRY ON HIS SIDE. Not by a fucking LONG SHOT. The apathetic non-voters are idiots & assholes, this is undeniable - but they are NOT TRUMP SUPPORTERS. He has a THIRD of this country. That's it. Not a mandate, not a majority, not a plurality. He cheated to win the election. Whether he did it legally or not, he fucking cheated. And frankly, I don't think he did it ALL legally. I'll never be able to PROVE he did it illegally, so I'll stick with what I DO know - Republicans suppressed the vote, they made laws that enabled them to throw out hundreds of thousands of provisional ballots, to throw people off the rolls & keep them from voting... And if they hadn't, Harris would have won. Period. Did Musk steal it with Starlink or WHATEVER? No idea. Doesn't matter. We won't ever prove it, & it wouldn't matter if we did. BUT HE DOESN'T HAVE A MAJORITY. THE MAJORITY OF THIS COUNTRY DOES NOT SUPPORT HIM. Remember that. Hold on to it. You're gonna need it. We're ALL gonna need it.
