#StopForumSpam
Nice to see my PRs merged into SpamProtection (a small PHP library) even after some time! But what really touched my heart was the repo owner thanking me in the README. A first for me!

Anyway, here the link -> bit.ly/4yU2691

Paste a few hundred email addresses, find out which ones StopForumSpam has flagged. Takes seconds.

The one word of warning really is about the spam bots. They know all the forum software functions out there. Stopforumspam db is great but customizing the signup page and adding DNSBL along w/ blocking countries w/ heavy spam will help.

Spam controlling failing will kill a forum.

The bots are trying their best to post on our forum today. The good thing is, we can 1 click ban them as well as report them to StopForumSpam at the same time.

Why? Why can't I register at #stopforumspam ? Regardless of username, email address or IP I always get: "Account details blacklisted. Your details have been found in our database and thus are not allowed to register. This incident has been reported."

ARGH!

here's another fun one: does a captcha count as an "automated measure"? can you restrict signups using one? what about services like stopforumspam or the like? are those "automated"?

iirc this was brought up on their shitty forum but got lost because nobody there actually knows fucking anything

@julian @admin do you use stopforumspam or anything similar?

The Rambling State of Things (Proof-of-Life)
I frequently look back into my archives... some people like hearing themselves talk; I like reading my own words (I'm reflecting upon them, I promise! Probably). I notice it's about time I did a lil life update in this neck of the woods. But first, some housekeeping stuff, which is on my Ko-Fi page. In short: * comments may be disabled as I fight with spam. Why is there no easy StopForumSpam integration? * Our Favorite Void's forums is back up and running, and OFV has been up for 1 year! * The QCB is looking quite snazzy, including the Collections page. # Tired... so tired... Heat intolerance is no joke. If you're like me and take not one, but _two_ medications with this side effect, please take care of yourself! Don't be like me and get in that 8am sun on Saturday, and then end up recuperating through next Tuesday. At least I behaved myself better at _the beach._ It was a little coastal town, that grew popular, and our first night there we had to try three different restaurants since they were so crowded and _oh no I'm part of the problem?!_ What the heck is that speck!? But I needed the getaway, complete with change of scenery. It is easily one of my favorite ways of resting. ### Rest Is The Best This Pride month had me staying indoors and sleeping. I've been tired quite a bit, due the aforementioned heat, but also with the constant issue of wanting to do _all the things_ but not being about to actually do that. A lot of times, this month, the body just went "nah." More importantly, I didn't push through and I _let it rest._ And I've been doing a lot! I went to GOTH PROM. I went on a date and _saw a brick!_ Brick bought to you by January Knife. Still playing that freakin' game! Shall I give you dis pear? Did some volunteering! Got some heckin' reads in! ## This Really Should've Been a Ko-Fi Update But everything else has been behind a computer screen. I've been giving the sites a revamp, new colors, stuff like that. I've also started looking into Gemini– the protocol, not that AI bullshit. I'll talk a little more about that in its own post. And I've been writing a bunch. From putting together a Code of Conduct to flouncing on SpaceHey, I've put in a lot of days where I string words along. In the near future some of those'll translate to posts. ## Resume: Rest So that is all, a little post, to let y'all know I'm still up to no good.
