Do not worry the big thick lines in a 4 lane 30 mph road that have worn away with time shall keep you safe from the drivers going 45 miles in between the two stoplights half a mile apart it's like how when they paint a bike on the road it becomes a bike lane

Crossing 250 and 29 at stoplights are pretty much the only times I had to stop moving, otherwise I never feel like I’m “stuck in traffic,” like many of the drivers I see.

Right? And like, I've blown through stopsigns - even a few stoplights - in the course of my life, I'm not making some claim that women are just better drivers. But like, if someone got mad at me for something I DID WRONG, my first instinct is not to threaten to beat them up!

my employer would still be laying people off every quarter regardless of who's in office so I would still be a writhing ball of anxiety. but I would be able to listen to the NPR hourly headlines without screaming, so the other drivers at stoplights would be less frightened

there's plenty of drivers who are fine, but the 15% who aren't really are not and do not belong on the road if they don't know the basics like bikes being able to filter to the boxes in front of cars at stoplights

Getting around: buses get a VIP pass at stoplights. Transit signal priority citywide could give you up to two weeks a year back. SkyTrain to UBC. And a plan to save Mobi and bring it to South Van.

Tens of millions of American motorists believe there's nothing wrong with texting at a stoplight. Or driving 73 in a 60mph zone. Or changing lanes without signaling. Or rolling right on red without coming to a full stop.
But somebody has to do something about cyclists who don't follow the rules.

There is a system that emergency vehicles can have installed to turn stoplights green in only their direction, the transmitter on the trucks is a flashing white light beam. I think Waymos should have then and we shouldn't mention you can also use a flashlight as a transmitter

It causes confusion now. When asked what side of town I live on, I told someone I lived "by the highway"—meaning the interstate—and they interpreted to mean the state highway (the one with stoplights and goes in a different direction).

tbh this is why whenever I get a new car I either try to get the best stereo or install one myself if it is possible, on them lonely night drives home from work sometimes you just need 110+ db of music to massage your very soul

Most cycling advocates support having bike lanes that are separated from car traffic, as well as stoplights that would allow cyclists to turn left before cars start moving. This would limit the likelihood of having situations like you described.
