40 years ago this month, ZZAP! 64 issue three hit the streets with this excellent shoot 'em up cover inspired by Dropzone - and indeed Blade Runner's opening sequence. Top-scoring games this month included Gribbly's Day Out, Entombed, Kik Start, Strangeloop, and Rockford's Riot.

I'm glad I became a technical speaker in an era with so many community conferences. I miss Strangeloop, Write Speak Code, Alterconf, Codeland, !!Con.

Hello!! I'm working on a tape loader device type thing and I want to give it something tricky to chew on.
What are the trickiest loaders fo the C64 and Speccy? I'm currently loading StrangeLoop and Sanxion without issue and I'm after a challenge.

Ah, great insight about StrangeLoop, which is also what launched Elm to whatever passes for prominence in PL nerd circles, and then indirectly a bunch of related/downstream tech. We really need a StrangeLoop vNext. 😮💨

Lobbed the head roughly in place with double sided tape about a centimeter from the head and it's happily loading StrangeLoop.
I'm going to wire the channels together, find the optimum placement then think about making it self contained.
This is disturbingly easy (so far!) 😲

Weirdly, I can't load StrangeLoop on an issue 1 128k +2 no matter what I do and it fails in exactly the same way each time when the waveforms look great which is unexpected.

blogs are just largely dead, people want you to commit yourself to garden walled discord servers with dozens of channels to keep track of actual information. StrangeLoop ending 2 years ago feels symbolic on a lot of levels.

This is a great point. There are various other conferences but nothing with the gravitational pull of StrangeLoop. Plus, I think the generous travel $ of the 2010s are going to be mostly gone. I definitely viewed StrangeLoop and the other conferences of that era as another ZIRP phenomenon.
