Trying again with a store rescue Dionaea muscipula, and the two I picked up are distinct despite being “typicals.” One is paler and normal in tooth shape, the other deep red and has some fused teeth going on.

Quite similar in appearance to A, which is the only other one to bloom so far, but with slightly larger, and slightly more veined petals.

First full true upper pitcher on Nepenthes platychila, famed for its funnel shaped traps and broad, perfectly smooth, stripey peristome. Last photos of the previous trap shows how much it will darken in the lip.

Nepenthes northiana x veitchii “Candy Dreams” is still a small plant but has color hitting like a big one. Nothing but pink when it opens, aging to high contrast reds, oranges, and green-yellows (seen in the trap behind this one).

Thunbergia mysorensis is blooming again! For some odd reason it only puts out flowers from way down low, so I find them draped over or hiding between the pots rather than hanging from the vines that are right in my face…

This plant is never going to get old to look at. Every new Nepenthes villosa x hamata trap goes from purely yellow peristome to this bicolor beauty…to the deep maroon in the last pic. And the teeth just keep getting more pronounced.

Way overdue for a repotting Nepenthes lavicola SG. A difficult species to describe without comparing it to a cross between spectabilis and something in the bongso complex. Color kind of reflects its name origin meaning “lava dweller”
