Yeah I read Transformers as well. Completely different vibe than the cartoon. Shockwave was such a terrifying badass...and than we got the Straxus issues. Holy crap.

Going back & re-reading the Marvel era of Transformers again & going with different voices with characters that never appeared in the show, Bernard Erhard (Cy-Kill from Challenge of the Gobots) always seemed like a perfect fit for a character like Straxus.

Fair amount of mind control and possession, copying from/to crystals, transfer of brain modules, body theft, etc and some impersonation but straight up swaps not that I recall. Straxus was more possession too. Didn't even get western TF stories with -Masters swapping partners AFAIK. Surprisingly.

Kind of already happened, ish. In the UK Marvel comic Megatron was replaced by a clone (a Megs-shaped bot implanted with the mind of Straxus). When Galvatron travelled back from the future he could see events through the eyes of this clone implying he’d been made out of it rather than the real Megs
