Here's a message I was supposed to have gotten but never did: According to the person I just talked to at StudentAid[.]gov, if you applied for new Income-Driven Repayment on your student loans before March of 2025 & have been waiting on a determination, it's likely not coming and you need to reapply

Per StudentAid/MOHELA, my income re-cert on my federal student loans isn't due until October 2027 (not a typo) and they're all in forbearance until October 2028 (also not a typo) so... do we think I need to explicitly change payment plans before 9/30 orrr could I maybe fuck around &find out? lol

If you are in a similar situation I suggest going to Studentaid(.)gov (while you can) and download all of your loan payment information to ensure you have proof that you have been making payments and have been in compliance with the plan.

Studentaid dot gov will try to sell you a plan with a lower monthly payment but do NOT switch. The length of your payment term will restart AND that plan is set to cancel and kick everyone off by 2028, at which time you'll be thrown right back into full-price payments.

i dreamt last night that trump started making me pay a monthly amount on my student loans that i couldn’t afford, and then, when i tried to call someone at studentaid dot gov about it, i couldn’t get through to anyone because they had fired everyone

allegedly today is the last day you can get on the USA student loan SAVE plan, uhh, go do that. It's very simple, just log into studentaid . gov site and log in and look for the IDR (income driven repayment) segment. mine should be going from 400 to 80 which will help tons.
