Pour la première fois, la ville historique de Grand-Bassam se raconte en webtoon. Il s’agit d’une bande dessinée numérique, pensée pour être lue sur smartphone ou tablette. Le principe est simple : le lecteur fait défiler l’histoire de manière verticale, case après case . Ce projet inédit a été dévoilé ce mardi 30 septembre 2025. La présentation s’est tenue à l’Hôtel Ivotel, au cœur du Plateau, à Abidjan Porté par une équipe franco-ivoirienne, Citytoon et Studio6, le webtoon propose de valoriser l’histoire, l’architecture et le patrimoine vivant de la première capitale ivoirienne. En somme, le projet compte 10 épisodes gratuits, diffusés dès février 2026. Une histoire pensée pour les jeunes La directrice générale de Côte d’Ivoire Cinéma, Diomandé Johnson Lison Fall, a rappelé que le projet vise à toucher les jeunes sur leur outil privilégié : le smartphone. « Ce format permet de transmettre l’histoire et la culture de manière moderne et ludique », explique-t-elle. En effet, les récits s’inspirent de la culture Abouré et N’zima, sur le modèle des webtoons coréens, combinant apprentissage et divertissement. Un projet soutenu par l’État et des partenaires privés Le webtoon bénéficie d’un financement de 5 millions FCFA du FONSIC, ainsi que du soutien de l’Institut français, de l’Ambassade de France en Côte d’Ivoire et de partenaires privés comme VAS Technologies, Amore et Schamah Production. Olivier Sieber, responsable de Citytoon, précise : « Nous voulons créer des histoires vraies, porteurs d’une identité ivoirienne et africaine. Le smartphone devient un outil culturel et patrimonial. » Une ambition patrimoniale et internationale Honoré Essoh de Studio6 souligne la rapidité du financement, preuve de l’intérêt du cinéma ivoirien pour le webtoon. Par ailleurs, l’objectif est double : promouvoir Grand-Bassam à l’échelle internationale et faire découvrir le patrimoine de manière innovante. Inscrite depuis 2012 au patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO, la ville entre ainsi dans l’ère numérique. Un geste reliant culture et technologie pour séduire un public jeune et connecté.
