The Hitcher is an 80's classic, an excellent slasher with car stuntwork worthy of George Miller. Rutger Hauer was fantastic at playing charismatic yet unknowable psychos.

Gamera 2: Attack of Legion
9/10
Not as great as the first one and what themes it has are ok at best.
The stuntwork and creature effects are just so good and Legion is such a unique monster that I recommend this film on that alone.

It's very athletic ✅
It's a form of worldwide media like music, video games, comics, TV shows, movies ✅
It's a difficult artform to master since it's a live play w/ violence/stuntwork ✅
Trump loves plays, news, music & movies. Has friends in them too! Oh no! Everything in the world must be MAGA! 😱

Both 2 and 3 are worth watching. 2 is quite good. 3 not so much but WOW the stuntwork is insane. The finale is fantastic.

it's not "real" sports. but sports-like
not quite theatre. but live improv. multi camera. no retakes
complex choreography and stuntwork, performed by the leading actors
52 weeks a year. only a few hours to rehearse and prepare
broadway meets jackass, and it's fucking brilliant 🤼

I have the deepest contempt for Musk but he's always been good at generating hype (well, ok, maybe not with the Cybertruck). The entire Tesla market cap is basically built on hype and stuntwork.
I do think the car looks a bit crap and toyish though.

Now I wanna spend this post talking about RAIDERS. Gah. Greatest action movie ever made. Lotsa top-notch sequences, too, from the opening pursuit of the idol, the fiery bar fight, the airfield chaos...
... but the truck chase is my fave. Just a marvel of stuntwork & storytelling. Love love love it!

Honestly? I think you just *do it*, and have Ken get back up, haggard and bruised but with bones intact. I could point to tokusatsu stuntwork, but I'll keep it broader and point to *wrestling* stuntwork. They sell rough looking hits all the time without broken bones or buckets of blood. ->

Not normally an IGN person, but as someone who loves practical effects in movies, the amount of work to make these creatures come to life is insane.
