#Subaerial
Men would rather cause the world's largest recorded subaerial landslide than go to therapy.

Nice strike-slip motion under the northern-most subaerial volcano on Earth: Beerenberg. It’s also a not-so-common basaltic stratovolcano. Oregon State’s Volcanoworld site has good info about the complex tectonic setting here:

This is fundamental for geology, and terrestrial habitability. Climate caused cratons:

Subaerial weathering drove stabilization of continents - Nature
The geological histories of Archaean regions indicate that stabilization of the Earth’s continents and the formation of cratons was driven by continental emergence and subaerial weathering.

Can't resist a bit more Glencoe, classic view.
Lower slopes consist of a series of early basaltic andesite sills intruded into basin sediments.
Prominent buttresses above formed from subaerial rhyolitic flows.
Steep linear features show where Etive dykes have been preferentially eroded.

Interesting possibility here: 2.7 to 2.5 billion years ago might have been when substantial subareal erosion began.

#Atacamite crystallizes around seafloor vents, in arid environments, and even sublimates around subaerial volcanic vents. It is also a biomineral 🤩, a natural composite that forms bloodworm jaws.

#Sentinel2 images on June 4 show the #TitanRidge eruption site in detail. The subaerial plume is likely being generated as blocks of inflated magma float up from a seafloor vent & explode or interact with seawater at the surface. Images also show pumice enveloping islands in the N. #BismarckSea.

This is a rare example of the mineral brickite, named after Johann Brickius a late 17th Century minerologist & architect.

We still don't know how it gets deposited, but some hypothesize it involves a biogeochemical process where human trash interacts with near-surface or even subaerial weathering.
My granddad found this rock 50 years ago and said it was a meteorite. Is it?
