A8: I organized a letter-writing campaign after the #CarrFire destroyed nearly all of Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, and the notes of support that poured in were so meaningful. Should we pick one park each week and all write them notes? Flood them with #ParkChat mail?

My husband dropped me off in my 2023 WRX. He loves to make weird faces at the camera. I was wearing Subaru Ambassador gear under all this, I swear! Forest Glen Trail connects the Grist Mill Trail to the Hilton Area. I hadn't gone up this way before. This was where the trail I was on (a branch of the Santee Branch Trail) reconnected with the Grist Mill Trail. This was not a well marked trail.

I used the recipe in Subaru Drive to make some sugar scrub in various scents. My sister-in-law was especially delighted! One note I will share: not all essential oils are considered skin-safe, so be sure to look at the label before buying.

A bag full of trash (mostly plastic flowers) that was picked up around my campground at the start of my 2019 Subaru Day of Caring journey along the C&O Canal Towpath (this was at Spring Gap Campground). My Crosstrek is in the background. My bike and most of my gear from the 2019 Subaru Day of Caring, where I rode from Spring Gap to Fifteenmile Creek campground, picking up trash along the way. Most of the trash I picked up was microplastics and cigarette butts, so it didn't take up much space (thankfully). A black bag full of nasty trash I picked up between Antietam Creek Campground and MM71 on the C&O Canal Towpath during the 2021 Subaru Day of Caring. Most of the trash here was dog poop bags, which made me pretty angry. You bag the trash, but refuse to take it with you? Me with the even-larger bag of trash at MM74 along the C&O Canal Towpath. In the 2 miles between 72 and 74, almost all the trash I picked up was either plastic water bottles or bags of dog poop.
