Actual adequate volcanic and seismic monitoring.

All the Cascades, any of the Aleutians that could be a major threat to aviation, the Aleutian Trench, the Cascadia subduction zone, the Puerto Rico Trench, the Lesser Antilles subduction zone, the Mississippi confluence, South Carolina....
What's your most ridiculous, newly emboldened political demand?

Literally have not been able to stop thinking about divergent double subduction zones since learning about them two days ago. 🫠🤯

The most at risk location is the west coast of the USA with the San Andreas Fault and the Cascadia Subduction Zone.

A rock plunged 90 kilometers into Earth and revealed something unexpected
An international research team led by Göttingen University found that the rock traveled more than 90 kilometers (56 miles) underground about four million years ago. Along the way, it experienced unusually high temperatures at shallower depths before entering conditions associated with a relatively cooler type of subduction. The discovery raises new questions about how heat is distributed inside Earth and how tectonic plates behave as they descend. The findings were published in Nature Geoscience. A Strange Discovery Deep Beneath Earth's Surface Earth's outer shell is divided into enormous tectonic plates that slowly move across the planet. When two plates converge, one can be forced beneath the other and sink into Earth's interior. This process is called "subduction." These regions play a major role in shaping our planet. They are associated with powerful earthquakes and volcanic activity, but they also help regulate Earth's climate over millions of years by recycling materials such as carbon dioxide through the planet's interior. The immense pressure found in subduction zones can transform rocks into a distinctive red and green material known as "eclogite." Researchers examined one of these rocks from Papua New Guinea using several advanced analytical techniques. Inside the rock, they discovered tiny crystals...

Sorry to say it's a race between the New Madrid fault and the Cascadia fault for America's next horrific disaster. Something tells me Cascadia will win.

Subduction zones are real. It's why Garibaldi is a volcano. We know what they do when they rupture. There are tons of data. It is in many ways inevitable. Could be another 200 years though. Or tomorrow.

🤞How to Date a Planet and Rocks.

Not that easy with plate tectonics... subduction at converging boundaries and divergent boundary formations.

Meteorite from a young forming, cooling Mars is a theory...based on facts, a step up from a hypothesis.

(Not all edges of continents would end up this way, only the ones that had oceanic crust subducting beneath them, compare the Northwest and Northeast Coast of the US for example--the NW Coast has active subduction, the NE Coast does not (at least not in a very, very long time).)
October 30, 2026 at 4:20 AM
That means that faulting and earthquakes would still occur along the edges of continents where subduction happens (or the edges of younger regions of oceanic crust). There'd also be faulting and earthquakes towards the middle of the oceans where spreading ridges replenish the oceanic crust.
