The founder of chiropractic claimed a ghost told him that all disease is caused by the compression of the nerves in the spine, which can be fixed with something called subluxation. That is not where disease comes from and subluxation is not a real thing.

I'm home! It was a partial subluxation and I've got a sling.
Waiting for an X-ray. Got “How are you still walking?” from the admitting nurse, and “Did you have a fall?” from the doctor. I just woke up like this. It’s not especially painful because I’m a cryptid.

Update: a few hours of bracing it to calm down the muscles let me reduce the subluxation, at least! Now it just hurts from the soft tissue trauma
I managed to fuck up my left thumb in my sleep :/

See the thing is, one subluxation isn’t too too painful on its own. It definitely hurts, but I’m also used to pain, so unless it’s a particularly bad one, it usually gets better fast after the joint pops back into place. It’s just that it happens at least twice a day, and that wears you out

Chiropractors don't officially subscribe to the paradigm of scientific medicine. They believe all disease is caused by subluxation of the spine which isn't even a real thing, let alone a cause of disease. But they vote Republican.
The Department of Education is proposing a definition that could strip nurse practitioners and CRNAs of “professional degree” status.
Chiropractors keep it. Nurses risk losing it. And that change would fall hardest on women in healthcare.
