I was over at Walberswick, when Craig F called to say he had found a yellow-browed sp in Southwold churchyard. Pleased I yomped back to help ID it as Hume's - it took 90 mins before it called and showed well. The 2nd year in a row Craig has found one in the same spot #suffolkbirding #ukbirding

I went for 2nd looks at the Isabelline Shrike at Kessingland. Enjoying the wasps, its warm Dijon mustard-coloured upperparts, subtly rufescent crown with retained juv feathers; pale ear coverts are features that would fit neatly in the trays of isabellinus at Tring... #suffolkbirding #ukbirding

Another busy day at Estaca de Southwold today with highlights including 169 White-fronts, 300+ Little Gulls, Sabine’s Gull, 2 Sooty Shearwaters, Long-tailed Skua, Woodcock, good numbers of Brents & other waterfowl. #SuffolkBirding

Very decent of this Isabelline/Daurian Shrike to turn up in Kessingland today after I was away for last year’s bird. Snapped just after it had had a bath. #SuffolkBirding

A crowd gathered early am at Estaca de Southwold with the promise of NE winds. Plenty of movement with Arctic & Great Skuas, Manx & 15 Sooty Shearwater, 2 Leach’s Petrels, Fulmar, 4 Sabine’s sightings, 2 L-e Owl, Merlin, 2 species of diver and a good selection of wildfowl. #SuffolkBirding

Being positioned in a bit of a bay, my patch isn't ideal for intercepting passing seabirds. With a Cory's Shearwater tracked south from further north it was worth a go, albeit without any real expectations. Thankfully, after longer than anticipated, it suddenly appeared in view! #SuffolkBirding

Superb garden tick in the form of Black Stork earlier today, with a bird seen circling overhead for a few minutes before drifting off back towards Landguard #SuffolkBirding

Cracking views of a Shore Lark on the beach at Easton Bavents, north of Southwold, yesterday afternoon - my 201st sp on the patch this year #suffolkbirding #ukbirding

3 x Skylark owa house just now. Not a year tick - but only 2nd house record. Which probs has more to do with hearing aids than anything else 🤣

Called in to see the Starling roost at Snape Maltings. About 5k arrived and did a few laps before straight to bed. Also in attendance were an adult Hobby and a juv Marsh Harrier.
The show was won by a load of big Mullet in the river!

A yomp down the Walberswick shingle this afternoon did not produce the hoped for Zitting Cisticolas. Maybe next year
Highlight was a nice party of 5 Spotted Redshanks that flew past to land on one of the small pools. My favourite of the passage waders...

Been back along to Iken( Tina Turner) cliff (sorry can't help it) to look for the Black Stork without luck. I have a turbulent history with these giant Oystercatchers... I've dipped 4 and counting... #UKBirding #SuffolkBirding

This evening 15 adult Pale-bellied Brent Geese touched down at Ness Point, Lowestoft. They could not be any further east & were completely un-phased as they fed as the tide pushed them ever closer to us. A memorable encounter for East Anglia. @suffolkbirdgroup.bsky.social #ukbirding #suffolkbirding

A pre arranged day out in Southwold with my sister and brother in law gave me the ideal opportunity to check out the confiding Red-Footed Falcon in Lowestoft. I wasn’t disappointed. #UKBirds #SuffolkBirding

Common migrants down on yesterday's visit to Shingle Street, but pleased with a juvenile Montagu's harrier that bombed through north way too quick, and the Pied Flycatcher that remained by the allotments
