Hey physicists, can someone explain superdeterminism to me in a way that doesn't make it seem crazy? I mean all of quantum foundations is crazy, but there's "this is weird but okay" crazy and "oh c'monnnnnnnn" and I feel superdeterminism is the second thing.

2a) She says superdeterminism makes superluminal communication possible. This is extremely confusing to me. Superdeterminism is rejection of measurement independence not locality. It was specifically invented to save locality&realism simultaneously

that Nature article got me excited because when asked about what they think quantum mechanics means, like 2% of theoretical physicists said that they believed in something called 'superdeterminism' and I was like Omg have I found my people? but alas no it is just crank stuff with fake math yet again

Ah, I see it's as I suspected: the "free will" being examined here is that under threat by superdeterminism (which denies free will by fiat). I was never too worried about that.

I think the interaction with Daniel drove home the unifying theme of Sabine's problem: she simply can't or won't internalise anyone else's arguments
