In Newfoundland, the current Progressive Conservative government has not provided any apology or compensation, with some victims stating they simply want acknowledgment of the government's mistake. The Manitoba government's handling of the case has been seen as a step toward addressing historical injustices, particularly for Indigenous and immigrant families affected by the error.
