#SynBITE
Organoids are full of cells that shouldn’t be there, and sorting them out wrecks the vasculature. SynBITE prunes in place instead.

3/10 We developed SynBITE, a synthetic biology platform combining cell-state sensors, genetic logic gates, and programmable apoptosis. The idea: cells can be evaluated based on their identity or developmental state, then selectively eliminated to refine tissue composition and architecture.

5/10 We first tested SynBITE in multicellular human liver organoids.
A major limitation of organoid development is the persistence of immature or developmentally stalled cells.
Instead of adding more maturation signals, we asked: what happens if we selectively remove these cells?
