Hi T1DMom here. Swimming has been the hardest thing for me. We have established an agreement over the years that he must sit on the edge of the pool for a Dex check every 30 minutes. We also give him a big snack before swimming and often don’t enter all the carbs so the pump gives him less insulin.

His eyes sparkled at his Halloween haul, but all I saw was a pile of anxiety. I felt so torn between being the fun parent and the safe one. This article helped me find the balance between fear and fun.
