Atmospheres are usually good indicators for habitable planets, but not in this case. Life won’t sprout from this ball of lava, but the finding may help researchers understand how the atmospheres of different planets evolve.

conclusive since with our target we have less problem with detector saturation. In some ways, given its low density, one might think of TOI561b as more like a hot subNeptune than a classic thin-atmosphere lava planet. (The work I'm involved in for K2-141b makes that planet
