Yep, that’s correct. We will probably tackle scenario building and the CBA process of the TYNDP. Can eventually tell more details in January.

I like the no risk strategy of doing both for the TYNDP like doing, PLEXOS and open source tools until there is 100% confidence in #opensource.

Just for scale:
The 2 scenarios in Entso-e Tyndp 2024 for 2050:
~4800 TWh total generation

86% - 89% Wind & PV

200 GW H2 in ALL scenarios

NPP 2050: 3-7%

So why woul RED 3 be a problem?

💡 Modeling implications (i): Model full winter periods (e.g. summer-to-summer) to capture long-lasting #Dunkelflaute events. Include multiple weather years, especially 1996/97. Note that the latter is missing from the climate-neutrality scenarios of #TYNDP.

OSS project Open-TYNDP is now in v0.2 and under active development. The new enhancements: Offshore Infrastructure Integration, PECD v3.1 Capacity Factors (offshore wind farms), Hydrogen Import Modeling & Electricity Demand Integration.

Hydrogen is the only zero-emissions fuel, and is needed for 25-35% of most industrialised nations' energy needs to achieve an effective transition
