Nominata secondo la città più importante nei pressi, ma la battaglia pare si svolse nei piani palentini tra Scurcola, e Magliano dei Marsi, con la cavalleria nascosta dietro una collina verso Avezzano che copriva le spalle del campo angioino. A Tagliacozzo non c'è proprio spazio per tale battaglia
