It's publication day. Again.
#thislittleworld has crossed the Atlantic (a bit more comfortably than most of the people in it) and is out in North America today with @yalepress.bsky.social

My contribution to book Friday. Part of Richard Frank's trilogy on the Asia - Pacific war. A fabulous historian likewise Jon Parshall and the Unauthorised History of the Pacific podcast team.
PS. Nothing against John McManus or James Scott - Looking forward to reading them.
Happy Friday Everyone.

Some rather more niche Royal Navy manning and press gang books that have arrived in from a secondhand shop. 🌊 🇬🇧 📚 #histbookchat #maritimehistory

It’s a post Napoleonic War-ish book that’s arrived. The Allied armies don’t go home upon the 2nd Bourbon restoration. @beatricedegraaf.bsky.social has made me think about the post war diplomatic & security environment so hopefully this tells me about the ‘occupation’ of France. 🇫🇷 🇪🇺 📚 #histbookchat

#histbookchat. Years ago I read the late Keith Nolan’s book about this action.
Reviews are in for "The End of the Rope" an examination into the Firebase Ripcord that was the last major American offensive effort in the Vietnam War.

Just finished Havana Nocturne by T.J. English, and I found it hard not to get caught up in this slice of history. I’ve always been drawn to stories about organized crime, and the way the American mob turned Havana into a playground of casinos, nightlife, and corruption.

This week I'm mostly reading Anzio The Friction of War by Lloyd Clark. Been a while since I've read any secondary sources on the Italian campaign. #histbookchat

New review on our website: @dienekes.bsky.social together with @ttladada.bsky.social wrote the book: 'Warsaw: A city at war 1939-45'. An excellent book on the tragic history of the city during WWII.

The moment when you're caught between:

- Finding a book that fills an important gap in the literature

- Discovering (to your horror) that it's written by Mark Nicol

- Seeing it's endorsed by Penny Mordaunt and Piers Morgan 🤦

With cooler days settling in and fall in the air, it’s a lovely time to curl
Up with a nice thick book. These 5 books that are over 500 pages, invite you to settle in, and lose yourself in another time and place.

Like @matteatonmedia.bsky.social I've returned to a subject I haven't read much of in a long while - it's back to the PTO with K Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment.
