You simply haven't lived until Emperor Taizong of Tang has taken a relaxing soak in your tea.

I googled "who invented spanking" and the answer is Chinese Emperor Tang Taizong invented spanking. Apparently. He looks like a daddy who would give out spanks to his soldiers tbf

- Tang Taizong was 28 when he kicked his father upstairs & seized the Dragon Throne.

- Ming Hongwu: 27 when he seized control of the Red Turbans against Mongol Yuan rule.

- Qin Shihuang: became King of Qin at 13.
- Emperor Wu of Han: 15.
- The Kangxi Emperor of Great Qing: 7.

Basically - no.

Some may already realize the connection between Jingyuan's Eidolons and Li Shimin(Emperor Taizong of Tang). It's an interesting coincidence that historical records indicate that Empress Changsun, Li Shimin's wife, was also a devoted reader who always had a book on hand.

[TANG TAIZONG]: "Please just ignore Prince Changqian over there playing with his goats next to his personal yurt. It's... uh... Tujue cosplay?
Anyways, let me direct your attention over to our *extremely* authentic family tree... tracing us Lis all the way back to Laozi himself! Imagine that!"
@thoc.bsky.social really do want to write a parody complaining the Tang is a "foreign Turkic colonial power" and not a legitimate Huaxia dynasty carrying the proud tradition of the YELLOW EMPEROR.

[CONFUCIAN OFFICIAL] <squinting skeptically at the House of Li’s pure genealogy back to Laozi himself>: “… and, what of Prince Chengqian?”

[TANG TAIZONG] <quickly closing curtain over Prince Chengqian’s yurt; throat singing continues in the background>: “The Prince’s *hobbies* are… eclectic”
I think about the number of weirdo Chinese nationalists on Reddit I come across who rail angrily against any suggestion the Tang were not the purest Hans who ever Hanned, and this trio of paragraphs would probably give them a collective aneurysm.

always be glad that we live in a time when we have potatoes to eat; Confucius, Tang Taizong, and Zhu Xi never got to see, let alone taste a potato.

Also, the live crickets thing is hilarious if you know about Chinese history (Emperor Taizong of Tang ate live locusts in front of his court to troll his ministers once)

The Penn Museum had an exhibit upstairs in a beautiful dome room which purported to be about Buddhism but which was largely about cool animal sculptures from the Tang dynasty? eg these two tomb portraits of an emperor’s favorite horses.

foolish ones, however, end. A good insight into the duties of a ruler is provided by the guide on virtuous and successful rule written by Emperor Taizong (598-649). ⏬

Are you in a discord that routinely refers to the Taizong Emperor as Li Fuckin' Shimin and has a custom emoji of him, or does your life lack spice?

Although he placed his own father under house arrest and exterminated the families of his older and younger brothers, he established the Rule of Zhenguan and ushered in an era of peace and prosperity – Emperor Taizong of Tang, Li Shimin

This might be a teeny-weeny oversimplification, but the standard histories of all major Chinese dynasties invariably seem to depict a second founder (Han: Wendi; Tang/Song: Taizong; Ming: Yongle; Qing: Kangxi) who then tries to "out-Confucian" or "out-badass" the first guy.#文武

Despite the limitations, trade between these empires was lucrative, with Chinese silk highly coveted in Rome, while Roman glassware and high-quality cloth found their way to China. Artifacts like Roman coins have been unearthed at Chinese archaeological sites. (6/7)

It’s going to be doubly embarrassing, from an historical context, that America’s first (and hopefully last) Emperor is Donnie “Dollhands” Trump. I mean some other Empires had a Julius Caesar, or Napoleon, or Ramesses, or Cyrus, or Ashoka, or Taizong. We get a diaper-wearing pedo in orange makeup.
