How much of what we suspect is the truth? And who is innocent?

#PoemsAbout #Bites #TakeRisks #EndOnAnImage #AvoidCliché #Poetry #DarkPoetry #NarrativePoetry #Amilie
Amilie The reeds are nestling into the wind, and the autumn season twitches. The trout are whispering in my ear— “I don't care. I don't care. I don't care.” There's a line and bobber pulled from the water. Hush. Hush— the bass murmur to soothe. The girls at school candied their comments. I choked on what their sweetness disguised. Their amusements were carnival games. Sinking beneath them— an offering to savor. They will find you. They will find you. They will find you. My principal drew me into his lingering embrace. His gaze summoning others. Search closer— You'll find me in the filth around you. What has the muck preserved? Clasped tight. Clasped tighter. Ensnared. And the preacher held my hand. His big fingers rested over mine. He'll let go. He'll let go. He'll let go. I counted the spaces between his private lectures. Call my father. Call my father. Breathe on— Please, God—oh Lord, save my soul. My mother was impatient. I wandered out of sight. Come home. Come home. Come home. She called me back—the night laughed. Step by step. Stone by stone. All alone. And in the dim light of the glade— she begged, she moaned. I took a path in a princess dress, where the rushes ached for water. The sedges tangled around my ankles, and bubbles slipped between agonizing gasps. No one there. No one there. No one there. A tackle box sat beside the bank. Please find me. Please find me. Please find me. Not a sigh. Not a break. Not a howl. Only the fish playing games in my mouth. The reeds are nestling back into the ivy. Spring—the season, now slowly vanishing. And the tadpoles grow legs and turn into toads. But here I am. Here I am. Here I am. The trout—they whisper, “I'll see you next autumn.” No one's coming. No one's coming. No one's coming. The wake—it washes the tears from my hair. Sparkling gown—torn to pieces beneath heaven. Wait for me, pray for me, sunk somewhere along the bottom. I'm still here. I'm still here. I'm still here. —LaShelle—

I find a letter written,
not yet torn and bitten;
I see her eyes beaming,
her words weren't alone;
beckoned by the core…
I find myself heading home,
death is what?

My Chaste Eye Call me Worm Eye; Paschal Eye, Lenten eye, Crow eye, Crust eye, Sugar eye, Sap eye. All these names I am, full in a daylight sky. Make my wishes come true, bless this soft small garden in moonlight. I prepare the earth for your planting. Prepare yourself for change. Call me Gust Eye and Plough Eye. It's so worth seeing my Sap Eye bleed and worms rise range over warm soil, after snow melt and ice crust refrozen glints before it too, melts. Turn plough, bring up riches, bury weeds, You must, prepare my ground for my eye to relearn new beginnings, my Chaste soil sight dug fresh, this eye returned from hard dark starts to stretch.

Warhead seeds burst from the barrels of flowerheads. There was traffic here once. Listen. Listen. Ghosts. Bustling, raucous silence elbows treads invisible in wounded streets, broken. The seeds strike, make hollows of busy homes. Absences are in full bloom, vibrant glades. Stroll between rainbow bloomed borders of bones. Inhale aromatic fragrant dead shades. This city a garden of the fresh gone. Snipers make spaces for new shoots to grow. Refugees tell the way it carried on. Their stories keep their children in the know. They rename their city atrocity. Actual help is needed, not pity.

A Change in the air in my landscaped head when I recognise a tree or plant I can name, after years coddled by cities concrete illumination. To see the stars for real above this bonce instead of orange lamplight spooled like juice over a tarmacadammed floor. That's a daff or fanny dill as our lass at home calls it. That's a crocus, means cheerfulness and gladness, if you ken owt our lass says. It's a wonder I can carry it all in this addled head. A glory of Orion's belt above that dunt expand with years like mine. Perhaps I do remember summat after all

When She flags down the bus of forgiveness, steps on and pays the price to go the distance, and sits down next to trepidation who smells like a street full of crocodiles and iguana skins, while she sees grief and sadness holding placards on street corners advertising communication at no cost for a limited time. This is her stop where she gets off and finds herself in the recrimination market, where temporary stalls of remembrance shout discounted sweet deals with hidden sour spices. She decides not to buy as her aim is off centre and orders a meal of fear and anger cold when it arrives she complains to the wrong people who feed her to the animals.
