I made a vid about Talaris's history. Not to be annoying, but any urbanist who wants to do Talaris advocacy or have an opinion about Talaris should watch this lol. This only goes until the 1970s bc then it gets spicy in a different way from there & thus requires its own vid.

Affordable Talaris, a Share The Cities working group, has been demanding change at the Talaris parcel in Laurelhurst to build different & more affordable housing alongside trees, wetland, and a future daylit creek. We are heartened by the news that this parcel may have a different future!

SPD budget is ~$600 million per year. Proposed to go up by $68m.
SPU’s purchase of the 18-acre Talaris site in Laurelhurst where we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to restore salmon habitat & build publicly-owned housing was $64m.
We can buy 10 Talarises per year with the police budget.

I wonder if the Talaris site is suitable for one or more tiny home villages.

But A-102 is about locking parcels away from a progressive housing future.
