Your Bsky post a few days ago about mobile tariff's prompted my missus & me to investigate. Upshot is, we switched from O2 to TalkMobile and saved a combined £240 a year. Missus was £20 p/m and getting 500MB in data (yup!) & I was £16p/m for 1G. Now we get 50G.

Yep, lots of deals around. I’ve used talkmobile and IDMobile - both include Euro roaming, heaps of data, using reliable networks. Really no excuse for being ripped off. #r4today

Depends on how happy you are with coverage in your area (check here: www.ofcom.org.uk/mobile-cover...).
These are the four main mobile network operators; all other companies use one of their networks. You'll find many SIM-only deals that are cheap, have data and offer good roaming destinations.

Switched from O2 last week, gone to Talkmobile… 40gb data, unlimited minutes & texts, roaming in something like 47 countries, all for £6-95 a months! Half what I would’ve been paying O2.

I was with 3 for years, moved to a Talkmobile SIM-only deal, which is cheaper and uses the 3 signal but give you free EU roaming for example. Here's a good place to see what's on offer

The paradox of choice in action. I probably only need 5gb of data. 20gb safer tho and only another £1.05 a month. But 40gb of data is only 95p more again so seems like a bargain and now I’m paralysed by indecision juggling 3 options and yet again haven’t sorted out a new mobile phone plan…

I had a contract with 02 and I was very happy with them. Got a Pixel 7 and apart from them trying to push AI on me I really like it. Kept it after my contract and got a SIM only with TalkMobile because it's 12 quid for unlimited texts and minutes and 150GB of data and I've been happy with them too.

Joined TalkMobile for £8pm 10 years ago. Still the same price now with 8 times more data. Fortunately not all providers feel the need to up the price every year :)

Do you need that much. I'm on TalkMobile and they have generous allowances for a fair amount less than that. They're on the Vodafone network which I think is a bit better than 3?

O2 have been *terrible* for me the last couple of years, both at home and in London. Finally switched to Talkmobile (a Vodafone MVNO with non-absurd prices) and the difference is night and day

Very much depends where you live. I'm with TalkMobile who are owned by Vodafone and I get decent reliable coverage but not the fastest speeds. Never really had any major issues and it's £16 for unlimited everything on 1 month minimum.

I was with 3 and moved to Talkmobile & Lebara (Vodafone) which has served me well, though oddly O2 have good coverage out in the country like Derbyshire. For energy, Outfox the Market are about 15% below current prices.

On Three I get five bars of 5G in Stratford but no data at all. It has been like that for at least a year. Talkmobile is OK for EU roaming but would probably get another SIM for beyond that.

Nice! I use ID (3) and TalkMobile (Voda). In a fixed location, since they began network sharing, Voda got better, but now both are getting progressively slower 😒
Do you find having 1 network problematic in remote locations?
(Desperately trying to persuade myself remote work is possible as a CC!)

It might seem minor, but the whole 'Text to Switch' thing is Ofcom's rules, and was brought it to avoid this BS you got before trying to leave.
Unless you know...you do it anyway, cf. Talkmobile and leave your system broken...
