The crude oil tanker "Tavian" (1095337) was denied entry to German territorial waters and was forced to turn around. The tanker is now near the coast of Norway and heading for the White Sea.

After determining that the tanker Tavian had a false flag and ID number, it was denied passage. It promptly turned around and sailed for Murmansk.
If this happens more, it will notably impact Russian oil revenue.

Bisher hatten sich deutsche Behörden vor allem darauf beschränkt, die Schiffe zu beobachten. Seit kurzem vertritt die Bundespolizei offenbar eine strengere Linie: Vor wenigen Tagen verwehrte sie dem Tanker "Tavian" die Einfahrt in die deutsche Ostsee.
Dahinter steckt offenbar die Auffassung: Schiffe, die unter falscher Flagge fahren, können sich nicht einfach auf die UN-Seerechtskonvention berufen, die Schiffen ein Recht auf friedliche Durchfahrt gewährt.
