It was a 200 page book that’s been adapted 4 times already for film. It is now an 8 episode tv series. Did these geniuses who don’t like the show not know they had to expand on what was in the book to get 8 hours of tv? A lotta folks using the word “adaptation” that have never read a screen/teleplay

Serling said that the original ending, in the teleplay, didn't feel right. The hero didn't sell out. For the movie, he felt that corporate power had to win out so it could reflect the realities of the time

Every day until the end of The Season, I’m posting my October Libra Advent Calendar. There’s a little something at any price point, and this gift "keeps giving" all year long!

While we're at it... what's your favorite HBO show?

@gaylydreadful.bsky.social and I are still out here stomping for TIP TOE, the best TV show that no one is watching or talking about.

Episode 2 includes a ~3 minute dialogue-free texting scene that’s a testament to thhe strength of Davies’ teleplay and Peter Hoar’s direction

Watching the Justice League season 2 two-parter "Maid of Honor," and honestly, a more emotionally complex sapphic retelling of this plotline would make an amazing story arc.

I see the teleplay is by Dwayne McDuffy. But is it based on something, or is anything in-continuity based on it?

Premiering on ABC OTD in 1974 was THE STRANGER WITHIN, with a Richard Matheson teleplay based on his story "Trespass," in which Barbara Eden is about to birth a child that is clearly controlling her increasingly bizarre behavior. His story pre-dates ROSEMARY'S BABY, but with a SF twist.

For The Man Who Has Everything, adapted as episode 2 of Justice League Unlimited. Maybe the only adaptation Alan Moore agreed to put his name to. J.M. DeMatteis did the teleplay, and Dwayne McDuffie ran the show. www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYah...

Favorite unintentional #TOS #StarTrek Fan Canon : talked to kids watching TOS, they see the eye shadow/obvious makeup the cast wear (a vestige of the TelePLAY TV era) and make it IN-universe that sometimes the men like to feel pretty and wear eyeshadow. Gene would have LOVED this take. Seriously.

My ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 review of THE BOMBING OF PAN AM 103 boxd.it/gy8HuN

Humane rendering of tragedy, putting emphasis on victims, volunteers, law enforcement across globe.

Initial investigation is well done, but as case against Libya intensifies over years, telling becomes more haphazard.

A ★★★½ review of The Bombing of Pan Am 103 (2025)

I mean, King also likes that version because he wrote the teleplay himself lol. (I actually appreciate it for what it is, which is very much an adaptation of the novel on a TV budget. But it's not exactly going to replace the Kubrick version for me.)
