Now I'm wondering what ever happened to Terraluna? I never really spoke to them but they were a standout suiter at many cons back then.

Yeah, but the issue then is that like - why am I using Tether instead of the dollar? What's with the middleman, other than if I am only using Tether to more easily purchase other cryptocurrencies? Plus we've seen stablecoins rapidly destabilize before (TerraLuna), so there's still that risk.

Also TerraLuna was "algorithmic" meaning it didn't have the assets to back itself up whereas Tether at least theoretically is just a giant pot of US Treasuries and also doesn't pay interest on its "deposits".
