there is this guy from our cleaning staff that doesn't speak a lotnof german or english but he keeps using Google Translate's text2speech feature to say "Traitor" or "Asshole" when he's walking past one of us

I need advice. Do pre-2020s TTS voices count as genAI? (Microsoft Sam, Text2speech, GoAnimate voices, etc.) I was considering using those for more robotic voices and characters, but because about how unethical genAI is, I'm worried that they'll be considered the same.

genuinely there is no better collection on comfort videos than squeex Mario 64 speedruns from ~2023 where his chat goes wild on Text2Speech messages

Yes! Every "improvement" invariably makes accessibility worse.
Also, HTML is kinda' bicameral: it's not a semantic markup, but semantic *enough* that a text2speech agent can intonate, etc.

You cannot convince me that the developers of this kinda crap are happy people. In what world do you have time to speak with AI, but not speak with the person the message is for??? Text2speech, voice notes, phone calls all exist and you rather have AI speak on your behalf????
