Colour Clash, Burano, August 2022

A narrow alley on Burano, Venice, framed by houses painted in saturated red, pink, yellow and blue – the island's famous over-the-top palette at full volume. The juxtaposition is the story: candy-bright, freshly rendered facades collide with worn cobblestones, weathered shutters, flower boxes and satellite dishes, functional fishing-village architecture dressed in almost artificial colours. The buildings converge in a strong vanishing-point perspective, pulling the eye deep into the passage. Bright natural daylight saturates every surface, while soft tonal shifts in the shadows preserve depth. No people appear; Burano's architecture speaks for itself. Super Heroine - Concentration (B&W): Trying out a basic super heroine costume, what could be happening to our poor super heroine? #Photography #Portrait #BlackAndWhite #EmotionalPhotography #ArtisticPhotography #Contemplative #MoodLighting #TextureInPhotography #WomenInFocus #MonochromeMagic
This image is a black-and-white photograph featuring a woman with long, dark hair. The photograph is composed in a portrait orientation, focusing on the woman's upper body and face. The lighting is dramatic, with a strong contrast between light and shadow, creating a moody and contemplative atmosphere. The photograph is in black and white, which emphasizes the contrast and texture of the scene rather than color. The lighting is directional, coming from the right side of the frame, casting a soft glow on the woman's face and highlighting her features while leaving the left side of her face and body in shadow. This creates a sense of depth and dimension, drawing attention to the woman's expression and the texture of her hair and clothing. The woman is the central subject of the photograph. She has long, dark hair that falls loosely around her shoulders and cascades down her back. Her hair appears slightly wavy and is well-lit on the right side, where the light source is strongest. The left side of her hair is in shadow, creating a stark contrast with the illuminated portion. Her hair texture is visible, with individual strands distinguishable, especially where the light catches them. She is wearing a light-colored, long-sleeved top. The woman's face is partially visible, with her head tilted slightly downward and to the left. Her eyes are closed, and her expression is serene, contemplative, or possibly reflective. Her lips are slightly parted, suggesting a calm or thoughtful demeanor. The lighting accentuates the contours of her face, particularly her cheekbones, nose, and the curve of her jawline. The light highlights the smoothness of her skin, while the shadowed areas add depth and mystery to her features. Her right hand is raised, with her fingers gently touching the side of her head near her temple. This gesture adds to the contemplative mood of the photograph, as if she is deep in thought or experiencing a moment of introspection.
