In Case You Missed It: TheBirdOfTheDay theme from @alan678.bsky.social is

#TheBirdOfTheDay theme is #Ducks&GeeseInFlight, any Ducks or Geese in flight. Wood Ducks. 🪶

Atlantiic Birding@atlanticbirding.bsky.social has posted that the Alt for #TheBirdOfTheDay is #Paridae . Chickadees are a frequent visitor to our yard except for a few weeks when they are nesting. This curious chickadee might be a young one.

I was taking a walk on a lakeside walking path when I saw a commotion out on the lake. A flock of double-crested cormorants had settled into the water. The seagulls were trying to grab a free lunch as the cormorants were hunting for fish.

For my #TheBirdOfTheDay and #ManMadePerch entry here is a pigeon who seems intent on ignoring the “No riding on sidewalks” warning.

According to these two, they own the beaver pond #TheBirdofTheDay

Happy Tuesday friends... I'm not sure this photo fits the theme #PerfectPosture or even the ALT theme #MomentsOfMajesty for #TheBirdOfTheDay but I do know, this Indigo Bunting is stunning. #Birds #BirdingOH #wildlife #Naturephotography #ECK 📷🪶

Another photo of the Cooks's Swift. A bird native to South East Asia. I honestly can't believe how well the photo has come out. I've probably wasted thousands of photos trying to get a swift in flight.

Red-wing blackbird

(apologies for not creating a good backstory for our hero!)

Another take off for #thebirdoftheday
Not the greatest photo in the world but it does show the length of the wings of Europe's biggest raptor rather well, just under 3 metres wingspan. An old world Black Vulture. Nothing cinerous about it!

#TheBirdOfTheDay theme is #winterlight and the alt theme is #BirdsYouLove I couldn't choose between the two! Hope that's ok.

Great Egret in the Jan light.
The Wood Duck. I love their shape all the colors. They can be a challenge to photograph in different lighting. I learn from them.

I got a Great Egret (Ardea alba, aka Great White Egret or Large Egret) for #TheBirdOfTheDay theme #FabulousWaders. This one is - of course - wading on the shores of Lake Langano in Ethiopia.

I couldn't decide, so here are two #headshots as my picks for #TheBirdOfTheDay One is a Tacazze Sunbird (Nectarinia tacazze), the other a Greater Blue-eared Starling (Lamprotornis chalybaeus). Both photos taken in Ethiopia
