Magic is the reduction of entropy in the violation of the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics.
was talking to my 8yo about what’s sci fi and what’s fantasy

articulate the difference between technology and magic in one post. go

Hey, at least that stuff is physically possible. Many of my interest violate several laws of physics and thermodynamics.

Laws are just an inconvenience, to be broken for profit. Laws like thermodynamics; lots of rube profit potential.

Thermodynamics was built before anyone knew matter is made of atoms, and the atoms changed nothing. Einstein said why: a principle theory describes a context, not its substance.

The Theory That Never Asks What Things Are Made Of
Thermodynamics was built before anyone knew whether matter is made of atoms, and survived the discovery untouched. Einstein’s distinction between constructive and principle theories says why: a princi...

Thermodynamics
or, I Don't Understand Physics, Love, &/Or Life

FIRST LAW
Sometimes I forget I didn't #start this.
Other times, I remember they did.

SECOND LAW
Save me, Entropy, you're my only hope.

THIRD LAW
I know I can say when, whenever I like,
but it doesn't mean I know how to stop.

Describe your house.
Mmmm

A shrine to the Spice Girls
We have Queen Elizabeth in the garage
We own a le grille
Too many Bowsers
In this house we obey the laws of THERMODYNAMICS!!!

That sounds good right?

That's a very good analogy. I was thinking the other day it's kind of like insisting somebody know the thermodynamics of the Otto cycle before commenting on the obvious drawbacks of widespread car ownership.
