Did you know that in Thieftess, selkies bleed teal, trolls bleed violet & siren hair turns red when they drink blood because the follicles are hollow like a polar bear?

That character or place also ends up meaning so much more to me because of that friend connection.

Jane Yolen named three of the taverns I wrote into Arilland (one is integral to Thieftess), and I will treasure those places ALWAYS because of that.

In my series, the Man in Black first appears in DEAREST (my Ladyhawke/ 7 Swans retelling) - his full story is told in THIEFTESS.

in a way, THIEFTESS is a reverse Princess Bride, wherein the queen is the one who saves her husband.

You know, I had an Aunt Dolly. My Nana's sister.

Not sure the exact origin of the nickname, but Greeks often use the term "kookla" (doll/dolly) as a term of endearment.

Also, Aunt Dolly's given name was Aphrodite, so...there's that.

For those just tuning in, I've had tendinitis in both hands (my poor fingers) since I finished THIEFTESS in April.

It's not as bad as it was (I could barely feed myself) but it's still an all-day, everyday Thing. So we're checking bloodwork and seeing a Hand Specialist next.

I am thrilled and humbled by this absolutely glowing review from a brand new friend who had never read any of my books before.

I was so worried about Thieftess being as good a book as Enchanted - it's a high bar.
Seems I did okay!

This one book solidified @aletheakontis.com as an auto buy author, which I mean it usually take at least two to get on that list, so that is saying a lot. Thieftess was an amazing new fairy tale and I cannot recommend it enough!

I hadn't done a Goodreads giveaway since it became a paid service, but they've really streamlined the process. It cost ~$100 to giveaway 100 ebooks, and most of the work was done on their end.

I feel like I got more reach with this than all my posting on social media in the last 3 months.

Question for the readers… Does seeing quotes full of praise by some of your favorite authors distract you from the plot you may or may not be about to read?

Do you honestly think that affects whether a reader purchases a book or not?

#Booksky #Authorsky #SpamTactics
Hi Alethea, I spent a few minutes reviewing Thieftess, and one thing stood out immediately: your book has strong ratings, 4.5 stars from 13 reviews on Amazon and 4.5 from 35 on Goodreads, and is Book 4 of 4 in the Woodcutter Sisters series, with a swashbuckling fairy tale adventure premise, Pirate Queen Thursday Woodcutter on a quest to find her disappeared husband, yet the description opens with author praise quotes before the story summary, which may distract potential readers from the plot and series context. On its own, that may not seem significant, but it's often a sign that readers aren't discovering the book as effectively as they could. Cover of THIEFTESS by Alethea Kontis. Features pieces of a map, a compass, and a magic spy glass

THIEFTESS has all of this except the number on the spine (aesthetic choice) and the character index - for the World of Arilland it'll have to be a whole book. Which I'm working on.

I also got my author photo on the dust jacket. That was special to me & I didn't get to have that before! ☺️
